About This Class
Come learn how to sew your own clothes! In this comprehensive 2-week sewing series you will learn all the ins and outs of how to successfully sew your own clothing. You will gain sewing knowledge and skills and by the end of the series you will have a fun fleece pullover and you can say “I Made It”!
Session Highlights
Understanding how a sewing machine works and what all the knobs do.
Learn how to read and understand sewing patterns.
Garments construction 101 from how to properly cut your fabric on the fold to sewing straight and curved seams.
Learn all your sewing basics and a ton of tips on how to sew like a pro.
You will leave this series with your custom-made fleece pullover top and all the newly gained knowledge to tackle your next sewing project with confidence.
Hand tools including Fabric Scissors, Rotary Cutters, cutting Mats, Pins, Fabric pens,Thread, and Needles will be provided for you to use in the class.
Materials Not Included:
Sewing Machine. This is a BYO sewing machine class - if you don’t own a machine (yet) you can rent one of ours for an additional $25. You can request this during the sign up process.
Pattern. You will need you to purchase the PDF pattern we'll be using in class:Paper Theory - LB Pullover ($15) Since this pattern is made by an independent artist we require that students purchase the pattern to support their art and small business - we will print the materials for you in the shop with a proof of purchase.
Fabric. You will need to bring 1.5 yards of 58” wide anti-pill fleece to class with you. Anti-pill Fleece is often on sale at Joann Fabrics, and total cost for fleece is between $10 to $15 for 1.5 yards.

What to Wear
Please wear close-toed shoes, no loose clothing, and hair tied back for safety in the studio.
What to Bring
If you have personal protective equipment, please bring it with you. Otherwise, protective gear will be provided as needed.
Prerequisites
No Experience Required.
Ages 14+ welcome if accompanied by a parent/guardian. Both need to register and pay.
Cancellation Policy
Refunds, Credits & Transfers
We understand that emergencies happen, so if you are unable to attend your class and you cancel with:
More than 14 (fourteen) days notice before your class, you may request a full refund or transfer the full amount paid to another class.
Less than 14 (fourteen) days notice before your class, your payment is non refundable. However you may transfer the amount paid, minus a 15% cancellation fee, to any class within 90 days of request. It is not guaranteed that a comparable class will be offered within 90 days.
Less than 48 (forty eight) hours before your class begins, your payment is non refundable. It is extremely difficult to fill cancelled spaces with short notice.
After class start date/time: No credits, refunds or prorating of fees will be given for missed portions or early withdrawals.

Changes or Cancellations
DIYcave reserves the right to cancel any class, limit class size, change class times or substitute instructors for those listed in the schedule. If a class is canceled, students may choose to receive a full refund or may transfer – with no fee – to another class or workshop. If DIYcave cancels for any reason, all payments can be refunded.
